Honor. Cherish. Respect. Remember.

In 2009, following Captain Rick May’s retirement ceremony, it was determined that South Metro needed an Honor Guard to establish and preserve the fire district’s and fire service traditions. And so the Honor Guard was established in August 2009, under Fire Chief Randy Adams.

A ceremonial unit dedicated to honoring firefighters with distinction, the Honor Guard serves at funerals and memorial services for our fallen brothers and sisters with respect and dignity.

The Honor Guard is also a vital liaison in the community, participating in parades, special events and other events and throughout the Kansas City Metropolitan area.

Mission:

It is the mission of the South Metro Fire Protection District Honor Guard to represent the department, firefighters and other public safety personnel, past, present and future, with honor and respect at distinguished ceremonies and funerals.

Motto:

“Never Forget” (Numquam Obliviscar)
